Summary

CHS has an exciting and unique opportunity on our Supply Chain team. We are looking for a Drone Pilot Intern to fly UAVs (drones) at our largest grain export facility in Myrtle Grove, LA. As a  Drone Pilot Intern, you will help tackle critical continuous improvement initiatives at the facility. The primary focus of this internship is to help develop a long term solution for humane and effective pest mitigation using drones as a deterrence at the facility. You may also be tasked with performing comprehensive visual inspections on critical infrastructure, collecting detailed imagery that will be used for analysis and reporting. You’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills by learning from and collaborating with a talented team of business and continuous learning professionals. 

Responsibilities

As a Drone Pilot Intern, your assignments may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Ensure compliance with all FAA regulations, company policies, and procedures. 
  • Coordinate with location managers to schedule flights 
  • Perform preflight, flight and post-flight duties on aircraft 
  • Upload and organize data from drone 
  • Perform basic maintenance to keep drones functional 
  • Responsible for completing daily flight logs 
  • Shift could include dawn, dusk, weekdays, weekends – but would be a set schedule. 
  • May include travel to our southern facilities in LA and TX. 

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • FAA Part 107 UAS Certificate 

  • Applicable UAS work experience (proof of flight time) 

  • Excellent communication skills, customer focus, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, self-motivated with confirmed leadership abilities, presentation skills and be able to function in a team-oriented environment with resource and time constraints. 

  • A passion for customers and product quality 

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • Aviation experience 

  • Photogrammetric (Pix4D, DroneDeploy, etc.) experience or certification 

  • Indoor inspections (Flyability Elios) experience 

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
